"The Feeling Of Hatred Was Palpable"

Speaker: After that chant, we're going to talk about just who the
Prophet Mohammed was. Guy behind me: He was a camel driver!

   It gets worse. Read it here: [1]Part 1, and [2]Part 2 and [3]part 3
   and [4]part 4.

I will note that the poor muslim they got to speak to this tragically
hate-filled mob was a representative of the [5]Free Muslims Coalition,
who I've linked many times in the past.

I am tired of being told that these muslim-haters don't exist and/or
are too tiny in number to matter. These people were yelling at a
fellow American, a man born here, a man from an organization that has
loudly and unequivocally stood up against terrorism for years, and
told him to "go back to the Middle East" and openly compared him to a
member of the Ku Klux Klan.

All for simply wanting to defend his faith against the most strident
   and irrational of criticisms.

I won't apologize for standing up to these people, or pointing out
that they exist. Not when [6]Ann Coulter spews her hatred and never
even apologizes for it. Not when books like [7]this one and [8]this
one are in wide circulation. Not when it's still common to [9]cherry
pick an out-of-context quote and parade it around in the blogosphere
as proof that an entire religion is evil. And not when
rationalizations like, "I don't hate muslims, I just think their
religion is evil" pass muster as respectable thought, which so far as
I'm concerned is about as convincing as "I don't hate Jews, I just
want Israel wiped off the map."

Yes, I understand disagreeing with a religion. I understand
criticizing a religion. But there's a difference between that and
simply slandering it and, by extension, its adherants.

We can do better than this.
