Battle of the Bloggers: No Contest

[1]Amusing:
In a strange coincidence, the conservative/libertarian
blogosphere=E2s most prominent denizen has a book coming out at
almost the exact same time as the most famous liberal blogger does.
Instapundit=E2s Glenn Reynolds=E2 =E2An Army of Davids=E2 is coming out
imminently as too is Markos Moultisas=E2 =E2Crashing the Gates.=E2
Markos, who runs the Daily Kos, reminds his readers frequently that
his traffic is five times greater than the next most popular
blog=E2s, which usually happens to be Glenn=E2s. So here=E2s something
odd =E2 on Amazon=E2s sales list, =E2An Army of Davids=E2 ranks #256 w=
hile
=E2Crashing the Gates=E2 checks in at a subterranean #12,749.
I think this mostly just demonstrates that Glenn has a very popular
blog lacking even a comment section for self-expression, while Kos has
a very popular self-blogging/diary site. Apples and oranges.
I don't think this difference necessarily says anything negative about
Kos or Kos' readers (though it does raise the question of how
influential Kos actually is), it's just a reflection of the sites'
different purposes. People go to [2]Instapundit to see what Glenn has
to say/link; they go to [3]DailyKos to speak out themselves in a
friendly atmosphere (heavily moderated to remove dissenting
viewpoints). Naturally the former are far more likely to buy a book by
the site's author.
