Welcome to the Carnival of the Liberated, a sampler of some of the
best posts of the week from Iraqi and Afghani bloggers. This week
we've got Zarqawi's death, remembering Ba'ath rule, a bleg from
   Miriam, and much, much more.

Of course, the big story in the Iraqi blogosphere last week was the
death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the foremost terrorist operating in
Iraq, in an airstrike. The post of the week is from [1]Treasure of
Baghdad: "The Thousand-Miles Road Starts With One Step".

We posted a complete round-up of reactions to Zarqawi's death from Iraqi
bloggers [2]in the immediate aftermath here.

More bloggers have weighed in or have added to their observations
since then. [3]Riverbend pens her reactions: Zarqawi was an American
creation, he wasn't needed anymore, it won't make any difference
anyway. That's the tack taken by [4]Roads to Iraq, too. [5]Children's
Voice from Iraq sees things a little differently:

Zarqawi is one of Iraqi kids killer is dead now but still his group
and people who support him behind killing our innocent kids, but
one by one people like Zarqawi will be hunted soon or later and
people who support Zarqawi will be graced in their life for
carrying this bloody ideas which always kill our kids.

Read the rest. [6]Truth About Iraqis posts on Hamas's support for
Zarqawi. [7]Iraqi Screen observes that little has changed with the
death of Zarqawi. [8]Imad Khadduri weighs in and includes
disinformation on the events from Islam Memo which you probably should
take a look at. [9]Hammorabi has a few details about the strike and
notes the importance of infiltrating terrorist groups. [10]Iraqi
Roulette re-surfaces to comment. Did Zarqawi exist or didn't he?
[11]The Mesopotamian rouses himself from self-confessed apathy long
enough to congratulate those who took part in getting Zarqawi.

[12]Iraqi Screen is sleeping on the roof.

24 Steps to Liberty reports two stories from the Iraqi Memory
Foundation, a non-governmental organization founded to document "the
miseries that Iraq and Iraqis had lived under the Ba'ath Party and
Saddam Hussein". Just because some are nostalgic doesn't mean all
Iraqis do. Testimonies [13]here and [14]here.

[15]Baghdad Connect comments on Saddam and his trial.

[16]Iran al-Rafidain, commenting about the incidents at Haditha,
observes that the Coalition forces are the only group operating in
   Iraq with transparency or accountability.

[17]neurotic iraqi wife and Hubby have left Iraq and, consequently,
this may be the last time I link to one of her posts in the CoL. She
comments on the slow pace of reconstruction in Iraq.

Miriam of [18]Pearls of Iraq is taking a leave of absence from
blogging and is looking for help in keeping her blog going.

[19]Thought Riot posts some fascinating observations about a Saudi, an
Iranian, a Kuwaiti, a Moroccan, a Palestinian, Tunisians and
   Algerians, and an Egyptian.

Dave Schuler posts regularly to his own weblog, [20]The Glittering
Eye. The Carnival was originally conceived by Ryan Boots.
