   The world's largest Muslim country, Indonesia, has been moving very
   dramatically into the realm of the world's most liberal democracies.
   They have had some problems with home-grown Islamo-fascists, but have
   mostly responded to the fascists by (a) cracking down on violent
   fanatics, and (b) further liberalizing their system of government.

   Case in point: the Indonesian version of Playboy, after being
   subjected to violent attacks, has [2]continued to publish, with full
   support of the liberal (oh, and by the way, completely Muslim
   dominated) Indonesian government.

   Not that we can expect the Roobart Sbunsars of the world to
   acknowledge things like this. It doesn't help to sell books or paid
   speaking engagements, after all. But still we have here (a) an
   entirely muslim-dominated country, (b) a liberal democracy that
   rejects terrorism, and (c) responds to violent scumbags by putting
   them in prison and giving further protection for free speech and free
   press for things they find offfensive.

   The Koran repeats, in many places, that there can be no compulsion in
   religion. I am amazed by how many Westerners--not to mention
   Muslims--who don't notice this fact.
