Hal Lindsey and His Den of Thieves

I remember how, as a kid in the 1970s, a [1]vile fraud named Hal
Lindsey published a book called "The Late Great Planet Earth." It sold
over 15 million copies and was eventually made into a movie. It scared
the crap out of me when I was a kid.

Too bad it was a big long pack of lies from start to finish. The state
of Israel was founded in 1948, and within one generation of that the
Biblical "End Times" would start--and a generation in the Bible,
according to him, was only about 40 years. He said the Soviet Union
and atheistic Communism were the forces of the anti-christ. In the
early 1980s, he came out with one of his many bestselling sequels,
"The 1980s, Countdown to Armageddon," which sold millions more.

Now you'd think come about 1995 or so some [2]false prophet thief Hal
Lindsey's fans would have felt a little misled. But no, he's still got
a thriving ministry, and still lives like the extremely wealthy man
that he is. Indeed, now he likes to selectively quote his old books
that were full of false predictions, and just ignore those and
selectively quote a few sentences here and there that make him look
   vaguely prophetic.

But do you think this [3]false prophet scumbag thief Hal Lindsey gave
back any of the money he swindled gullible people into giving him?
Heck no. After having declared that the Soviet Union represented the
forces of the anti-Christ, and that the world would end almost 20
years ago, he's out there now with a new schtick. His latest?
Supposedly Islamic Fundamentalists are now the forces of the
anti-Christ. Which is kind of funny, because the Muslims believe Jesus
is coming back too, and they hope to follow him. Too bad they
[4]aren't allowed to put any marks on their body, which would kind of
ruin that whole "mark of the beast" schtick the forces of Satan are
supposed to put on the damned. Don't laugh, I've had Christians try to
tell me that soon Muslims will accept "the mark of the beast" on their
hands or foreheads. No lie. Thank you [5]total fraud Tim LaHaye, Hal
Lindsey, and the rest of their den of thieves.

So tell me, do you think that by 2016 people will finally have
realized they got swindled by these liars who bilked them out of tens
of millions of dollars and laughed all the way to the bank peddling
bad theology for quick and easy $$$? These people make astrologers and
   Nostradamus pushers almost look respectable.

What really takes the cake for me, though, is that Lindsey is so
completely shameless, so completely slimy scummy, is how he [6]used
his position as a false prophet to [7]swindle his followers into
investing in a family oil business in Israel. This son of a b*tch
should be behind bars by now, and any decent Christian ought to be
   throwing rotton tomatoes at him.

Yet somehow I suspect that ten years hence this [8]complete phony
lying fraud will still be in business, peddling his latest book about
how the very events we see in the newspapers were foretold in the
   Bible.

Why not? With so many suckers willing to throw money at him, what
motivation does he have to stop--except for shame, which he obviously
   completely lacks?
