   You know, at one time--for a very long time--Jack Benny was one of the
   most popular and beloved of all American comedians. Yet because his
   career was more than 90% radio and television, most younger people
   barely know who he is. Rather like Johnny Carson, his fame was
   fleeting.

   Nevertheless those of us with an interest in history, including the
   history of pop culture, know who Jack Benny was. [1]Joe Gandelman's
