   In the continuing dissolution of the former Yugoslavia, I see that
   [1]Montenegro peacefully separated from Serbia yesterday.

   No fighting, and very little bitterness, and a far cry from the
   dictatorship that it once was.

   One might well congratulate President Clinton. His military
   intervention in Serbia--a country that never even attacked
   us!!!--ousted a terrible dictator, Slobodan MiloÅ¡eviÄ, and set up a
   democracy in a region that had previously known only ethic strife and
   the bootheels of communism and fascism.

   Indeed, as I recall, we intervened there primarily to stop the mostly
   Christian Serbs from massacring the mostly Muslim Albanians.

   Serbia and Montenegro are now separate, functioning, stable liberal
   democracies, just like Albania. Amazing, eh? Only ten years it all
   would have seemed impossible. (Quagmire! A quagmire spinning out of
   control!)
