   Michael Nolan has a [1]pretty good essay attacking Michael Savage and
   Islamophobes in general. I found myself agreeing with most if it
   100%.... then he went off the deep end and suggested that anyone who
   believes there is such a thing as Islamofascism or who thinks we're
   acting properly in our war efforts is to be lumped in with the Michael
   Savages of the world.

   Listen man, there are Islamofascists. Saddam was a fascist in the
   old-fashioned sense, and he embraced Islam as a political--not
   religious, political--ideology after he lost the first Gulf War. The
   taliban was fascism in the name of Islam. What they have in Iran right
   now is fascism in the name of Islam. That's just the truth; denying
   that reality is to deny the grossest of human rights being perpetrated
   in the name of a great religion.

   Nolan is also completely off-based in his characterizations of the
   Bush administration, which has tirelessly, ceaselessly emphasized that
   we are not at war with all Muslims, that we have many Muslim allies,
   and that, yes, Islam is a "religion of peace," which many foaming
   right-wingers spit out like an epithet--and which is George W. Bush's
   formulation.

   So offhand I'd have to say that Nolan is obviously as paranoid as the
   worst right-wingers he tries to excoriate. Pity, that.
