The Carnival of the Liberated
http://www.deanesmay.com/posts/1152020406.shtml
Welcome to the Carnival of the Liberated, a sampler of some of the
best posts of the week from Iraqi and Afghani bloggers. This week
we've got more on the Maliki reconciliation plan, Iraq after
al-Zarqawi, and a little more.
It's been very, very quiet in the Iraqi blogosphere this week. I don't
know whether this is due to problems with electricity, the heat, or
just the constant grind of the attacks. This post from [1]Where Date
Palms Grow probably says it all. It's short so I'll cite it in full:
Latest news from the "Eastern Front" is, that the Ministry of Oil
has increased the Benzene prices to 350 ID from 250 ID Official and
1000 ID in the Black Market
Queues are Quadruple in length, and people are dying rapidly
electricity has been off for 5 days and heat is nearly 50
Centigrade. Two extra Assassination attempts on members of the
Iraqi Parliament.
People whom their beloved ones have been Assassinated can't get
their bodies out of the Baghdad Morgue due to Terrorists Waiting
for them over there to kill them too.
Eight Mortar Shells fall on Al Adhamiyah
Now the City is Virtually Hell.
[2]Hammorabi comments on what has happened in Iraq since the death of
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
[3]Ibn al-Rafidain reflects on a speech given by Tony Blair back in
May on globalization and touching on our involvment in Iraq:
But I don't know what Mr. Blair means by 'until the job is done'.
The military existence might be lowered, but the job won't be done
(as I view the matter) without cultural and educational
rehabilitation of the Iraqi society. It is a job which needs
guardians.
Omar of [4]Iraq the Model reports on the progress of al-Maliki's
reconciliation plan. [5]Thought Riot has a good post on the plan, too.
[6]My Letters to America has a very moving post: "He Is Missing!".
Dave Schuler posts regularly to his own weblog, [7]The Glittering Eye.
The Carnival was originally conceived by Ryan Boots.
