Swiss: Israel Violating Geneva Convention

   The audacity of Europeans never fails to amaze me. Today's example of
   cheek is [1]Switzerland's condemnation of Israel's advance into Gaza,
   claiming that it violates the ban on collective punishment set forth
   in the Geneva Convention.

   The Israelis are too polite to point out the irony of being hectored
   by a country that remained neutral while Jews were being stuffed into
   the gas chambers next door in the not-so-distant past. However, it's
   worth noting that while Israel is being told to abide by the Geneva
   Convention by the Swiss, the Swiss authorities are not demanding the
   same from the Hamas terrorists who are actually holding Cpl Shilat.
   These terrorists are threatening to execute him unless Israel caves
   into their escalating series of demands by 6pm local time tomorrow
   morning. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but threatening to execute a
   prisoner is against the Geneva Convention, isn't it?

   Once again those who fight terror are being held to a higher standard
   than those who actually commit terrorism. It would be nice if just
   once the Europeans, who have more blood on their collective hands than
   any group on the planet, intervened on the side of the angels instead
   of the devils. However given their past perhaps such a request is
   impossible.

   In the meantime I hope that the Israeli leaders have the courage and
   wisdom to do what must be done.
