   The voting has concluded in this year's Brass Crescent Awards and the
   [1]results have been posted online. This was a very strong year for
   the awards, and I am pleased to note that we had particularly strong
   entries in the new category "Best Ijtihad" (wherein muslim and
   non-muslim bloggers alike rebut extremist ideology). SheilaX's post
   "[2]Islam, fundamentalism, and the betrayal of tradition" took top
   honors here but the other entries are well worth your time. The winner
   of the best non-muslim blog was Lisa Goldman's [3]On the Face - who is
   proudly Jewish and pro-Israel. Best Thinker was the formidable
   intellect of [4]Tariq Nelson, a convert to Islam and who is unafraid
   to wade into taboo waters. And for Best Female blog, Baraka danced
   away with the prize for her elegant and insightful blog, [5]Truth and
   Beauty. For the other winners and honorable mentions in these and
