American Terrorist Arrested By Muslim Government
http://www.deanesmay.com/posts/1165362056.shtml
Egyptian authorities recently announced a massive sweep of
international terrorists in their country. They proudly announced the
roundup of 15, including not just Arabs but also Moroccans, an
American, and some French and Belgians. They were mostly foreign
students who'd enrolled at the oldest, largest, and most respected
religious university in Egypt. The US government said it was pleased.
[1]Details at the Chicago Sun Times.
Excellent quote from the Sun Times, right near the beginning:
The group was part of an Islamic militant terror cell that had adopted
extremist ideas and were living in Egypt under the guise of studying
Arabic and Islamic studies, the ministry said in a statement.
That would be the Egyptian Ministry of the Interior, by the way.
Some facts you should know:
1) Egypt is an officially Muslim country.
2) According to the the CIA World Factbook, Egypt's population is
[2]90% Sunni Muslim.
My old blog-friend Rusty Shackleford brought this story to my
attention. Here is my reaction:
Assuming the story is correct, then I am aghast that an American and
several Europeans were involved in an international terrorist cell
that deceptively invaded Egypt's oldest, largest, and most respected
theological university. I also thank the Sunni Muslim-dominated
Egyptian government for working closely with United States and
European governments to round up these foreign terrorist thugs who
polluted Egyptian soil.
My heartfelt message to the people of Egypt: Thank you, my Egyptian
brothers (whom I know to be 90% Sunni Muslim, but also 10% Christian),
for helping us against this scourge of barbarians who threaten peace
and freedom around the world.
Well that's what I'd say. For other perspectives, you might want to
[3]read what Rusty Shackleford thinks. Rusty, who brought this story
to my attention, has a slightly different perspective.
Rusty and I have been blog-friends for years, and I was one of the
first to link him when he was just getting started. I still link him
pretty much any time he asks. I am also proud of some of the work he's
done. I really mean that: he's done some amazing work, even helping to
save lives--without exaggeration, he has helped save lives. He's a
great blogger, he really is. He's one of the best things about the
blogosphere.
Nevertheless I ask a question: anyone notice a significant difference
between my perspective and his? Any tiny thing that jumps out at you?
Just curious.
Also, a question for Rusty: so you applaud these authorities from
Egypt who arrested these accused terrorists. In other words, you
applaud the muslims who rounded up these terrorists. So, as it
happens, we both admire these anti-terrorist Muslims, do we not?
Indeed, are we not both incredibly grateful for these Muslims who
rounded up these un-Egyptian foreign terrorist scum?
That's an open question for Dean's World readers too by the way: do
you have anything you'd like to say to the Muslims who helped capture
these terrorist thugs? Do you have anything to say to the Sunni,
Muslim law enforcement authorities who helped catch these terrorists?
Anything in particular you'd like to say to those Muslims who made
this sting operation against foreign terrorist scum possible?
