Overreaction to Enron?

The Wall Street Journal says that [1]legislation to increase corporate
oversight in the wake of Enron has gone too far.

The funny thing is I heard a lengthy story on National Public Radio
about a week ago basically saying the same thing: that while the
reform laws had some good things in them some of the requirements were
so onerous that a lot of companies are just avoiding doing business in
the United States or starting up new companies here if they can avoid
   it.

It wouldn't surprise me. Legislation passed in the immediate aftermath
of a dramatic even is often overdone. Perhaps the new Congress will
address the problem. Now that Democrats will feel the need to actually
govern rather than simply kneejerk oppose all things Republican, good
   things can happen.
