The Carnival of the Liberated
http://www.deanesmay.com/posts/1155044531.shtml
Welcome to the Carnival of the Liberated, a sampler of some of the
best posts of the week from Iraqi and Afghani bloggers. This week
we've got a get-together of Iraqi bloggers, the situation in Lebanon,
and much more.
[1]24 Steps to Liberty reports on a get-together of Iraqi bloggers. In
Amman, Jordan. [2]Treasure of Baghdad comments on the same meeting.
[3]Riverbend posts on the same phenomenon: Iraqis leaving Iraq.
[4]Iraqi Konfused Kollege Kid has written an extremely interesting
post on the situation in Lebanon. Most of his criticism is reserved
for Hezbollah and the Lebanese. The gist of his post is that Hezbollah
does not fit into the previous paradigms of conflict between Israel
and its neighbors and that Hezbollah is, generally, unworthy of
support in the broader Arab community. His rambling style is difficult
to excerpt. Read the whole thing.
[5]Ibn al-Rafidain comments on Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki's visit to
the United States.
Mohammed of [6]Iraq the Model reports on the battle of Baghdad as seen
from his back alley.
[7]Thought Riot, in the middle of a much longer post about the
Israeli-Hezbollah hostilities, has a succinct explanation of why the
joint U.S.-French draft resolution on Lebanon making its way through
the UN Security Council is in all likelihood doomed to failure:
Bolton and de la Sabliere came up with a draft resolution that was
first described as a fusion of thoughts and a restoration to the
status ante quo, and then was described as a transformational
resolution to move the region beyond issues that had existed long
ago. Well, the status quo ante bellum wasn't good enough for
Palestinians or Iranians, so they nosed in so that it becomes bad
enough for the Lebanese, and who knows who else. I can safely bet
my money that Lebanese citizens prefer status quo ante bellum!
Dave Schuler posts regularly to his own weblog, [8]The Glittering Eye.
The Carnival was originally conceived by Ryan Boots.
