   This is aimed at no one in particular, but a friend of mine recently
   invited me to post something on my blog, and I declined. I was too
   tired.

   He subsequently asked me why in the next few hours I posted several
   things about other topics, one or two of them rather lengthy pieces.

   To be honest, it's hard for me not to lose temper with people who ask
   me this.

   Look: when you pay me to write for you, I write what you want. Because
   that's work.

   Otherwise, I write about what I want to write about, because I find it
   pleasing and relaxing or to satisfy whatever my own personal muse is
   calling me to write about.

   Asking me why I didn't write about what you wanted me to write about
   is about equivalent to asking me why I play baseball instead of the
   football you like better. Or why I made barbeque chicken for dinner
   rather than the beef stroganoff that you wanted. Or why I watched my
   favorite TV show last night rather than the show you wanted me to
   watch.

   There are many subjects I care quite deeply about but haven't the
   energy in my soul to write about at the moment. Maybe my soul will
   call for me to write about them in the future, and maybe it won't. But
   seriously, you ask me why I didn't write about what you wanted me to
   write about? Get your own blog, dammit, and stop pestering me.
