   I've been saying for years -- literally -- that the gay marriage
   people need to stop running to the courts, that they were causing
   themselves a horrible backlash by not building up serious grass roots
   and legislative support for the idea of simple fairness first. I'm
   sort of glad to see that [1]some in the gay community are finally
   getting it. Too bad they had to see anti gay marriage amendments pass
   in almost every state before they finally said, "duh, maybe we should
   have tried building up some political support first."

   Talk about shooting yourself in the foot over and over again.
