Welcome to the Carnival of the Liberated, a sampler of some of the
best posts of the week from Iraqi and Afghani bloggers. This week
we've got an incident at Qana in Lebanon, the Zawahiri tape, Maliki's
visit to Washington, and much more.

Without question the story of the week in the Iraqi blogosphere was
the incident at Qana in Lebanon in which at least 37 children were
killed, presumably by an Israeli airstrike. There's plenty of anger at
both the Israelis and the Americans. [1]Riverbend comments on the
   incident. Her questions:

Where is the Security Council??? Why havenât they stopped Israel?

[2]Ladybird of Roads to Iraq posts on the incident:

I donât want to this argument about using the civilians as a shield
because this is too old fashioned and the US used it many times
before in Afghanistan and Iraq to legitimize killing innocent
     people.

[Every single reporter appeared on TV today said there is no
evidence of rocket launcher in the area including 4 CNN reporters]

But donât blame the Israelis, blame the head of the sneak, the US
who providing a cover for these crimes, but this is what happened
when two criminal countries starting a joint venture against the
     whole world.

[3]neurotic iraqi wife reacts to the incident with an impassioned
jeremiad. The incident at Qana forcefully reminds [4]Treasure of
Baghdad of the destruction of a shelter in Baghdad during the first
   Gulf War.

[5]Baghdad Connect has a lengthy rant on Zalmay Khalil Zadeh, the U.
   S. ambassador to Iraq, whom BC characterizes as:

Today Mr. Zalmay Khalil Zadeh Is considered one of the strongest
'unbidden' men on the planet. A genuine âApocalypse Nowâ character
but with a Percy Cox flavor that sits on 115,000.00 Million Barrel
of crude Oil and 3,170.00 Billion Cubic Meter of Natural Gas, and
behind him one the largest and most powerful armies in the world â
Jaish Al-Pentagon, to rule a nation of 25 Million people, and all
is line with a UN resolution.

Omar of [6]Iraq the Model comments on last week's tape from al-Qaeda
leader Zawahiri and wonders: why not Syria?

[7]Fayrouz in Beaumont interviews the oldest Iraqi blogger, Dr. Najeeb
   Hanoudi of [8]The Hanoudi Letter.

hala_s of [9]Madly in Love With Iraq, who lives in the United Kingdom,
has been visiting Beirut during the hostilities there. I strongly
   recommend you read her post:

It is very hard for me to say that our only salvation is to ally
with Iran, the only strong country left, enough is enough we are
living in an era where you have to be feared not respected.

And a small message to all the hypocrates; you may kill and
     slaughter trying to establish a so called "The New Middle East";
rememmber you are fighting an ideology not a group of people.

Nasrallah is not a terrorist; he is probably the last dignified man
in the area. Right now he is the only man I can take my hat off
     for.

Dave Schuler posts regularly to his own weblog, [10]The Glittering
Eye. The Carnival was originally conceived by Ryan Boots.
