The Carnival of the Liberated
http://www.deanesmay.com/posts/1145969797.shtml
Welcome to the Carnival of the Liberated, a sampler of some of the
best posts of the week from Iraqi and Afghani bloggers. This week
we've got the Battle of Adhamiya, a new prime minister, and much, much
more.
[1]Afghan Lord is very unhappy with the state of Coalition operations
in Afghanistan.
[2]24 Steps to Liberty has a valuable backgrounder on Jawad al-Maliki
(AKA Nouri Kamil al-Ali), the new Iraqi prime minister. Also, don't
miss his the [3]second installment of his thoughts on the political
evolution of Iraq. His summary: "You are Free to Choose. There is only
one option anyway". More thoughts on the new PM from Omar at [4]Iraq
the Model.
[5]A Citizen of Mosul sounds uncharacteristically buoyant about the
selection:
He promised the parliament and the Iraqis that he will form the new
government depend on qualification not on sectarian factors, that
sound very good for me, and for all the Iraqis also, but we look
foreward to see it on the ground in the form of acts not just a
nonsense promises that stay as "ink on paper" as the well known
Arabic proverb said.
[6]Riverbend has a conversation with Granny Z.
[7]Konfused Kollege Kid live-blogs (sort of) the Battle of Adhamiya,
the neighborhood in Baghdad, last week. Zeyad of [8]Healing Iraq was
stuck in Adhamiya during the violence there and has a detailed post
including pictures and maps.
Check out [9]this site which is devoted to translations of the
de-classified Iraqi official documents. Hat tip: [10]Eye Raki. And
he's right: it would be very helpful if English-speaking Iraqis
contributed to the task, too.
[11]Fayrouz posts a letter from her correspondent in Basra. It's
pretty disturbing.
I linked to this last week but, if you only read one post linked in
this week's Carnival, it should be Mohammed of [12]Iraq the Model's
post, "Kill Us But You Won't Enslave Us".
[13]neurotic iraqi wife (and Hubby) haven't left Iraq after all. Just
keep scrolling.
Dave Schuler posts regularly to his own weblog, [14]The Glittering
Eye. The Carnival was originally conceived by Ryan Boots.
