I added two features to the blog. The first is what PowerBlogs calls
âcategories.â Suppose my fellow bloggers and I write about three
topics on a regular basis. Not every reader will be interested in all
three topics, so there should be a way for readers to select only
those topics in which he or she is interested. Until today, I hadnât
enabled this feature. But Bill Vallicella said it might be useful to
use names of members instead of topics. If you look in the sidebar,
youâll see a new section entitled âPosts by Member.â Click on âKeith
Burgess-Jackson,â for example, and youâll see several posts by yours
truly. Eventually, all of my posts will be there.

The problem with enabling categories this late in the day is that I
have to go back post by post and select the category (i.e., the author
name) for that post. I just did that for half a dozen posts. Iâll do
five or six posts a day until all are done. From now on, when one of
us posts something, he will select his own name in the âcategoriesâ
box under the composition box. If someone forgets, I will do it. I
hope my fellow bloggers like this function. It adds something and
costs nothing. The move from the previous state to this state, in
other words, is Pareto superior (which is not to say that the current
state is Pareto optimal, for it is not).

The other new feature is a Google search tool. Scroll to the bottom of
the blog and youâll see it. I could put it at the top of the blog, as
I did on AnalPhilosopher, but it might mess up the neat dinosaur logo,
and we donât want to anger the dinosaurs. (Iâve watched Jurassic
Park.) Now that you know the search function is there, you can make
use of it whenever you want. Youâre welcome.
