	I have no earthly idea why anyone would think
	animal rights a liberal idea or cause. Is
	conservatism committed to barbarism? Is it
	indifferent to suffering? Is it morally retarded?
	The only link I can discern has to do with
	conservatism's respect for tradition. But no
	intelligent conservative blindly accepts tradition.
	Nothing is more traditional in Western civilization
	than human chattel slavery. Must a conservative be
	for slavery? Of course not. There are traditions
	and there are traditions. Slavery was an
	unacceptable tradition. Why is the use of animals
	as resources for human consumption and enjoyment
	(as in hunting) acceptable? Slavery...
