	Whenever I say that the purpose of marriage is
	childrearing (which of course it is), I get a
	barrage of letters pointing out—as if I
	didn't know—that not all married couples have
	children. But what is supposed to follow from this?
	These same people don't think it a problem with
	affirmative-action programs that not everyone who
	benefits from them is disadvantaged. Nor do they
	think it a problem that not everyone who suffers as
	a result of those programs is advantaged. When it
	comes to public policy, and especially its relation
	to morality, liberals are too clever by half....
