The Daily Update: Alekseev the solo leader in the Russian Championship

   Of course the big story of the day was the world chess championship, a
   fairly uneventful draw between Kramnik and Anand. As that event gets
   underway, the [1]Russian Championship is coming to an exciting close.
   Going into today's round, Evgeny Alekseev and Artyom Timofeev led,
   thanks mainly to Timofeev's defeat of Peter Svidler, who had led every
   previous round. Unfortunately for Timofeev, his great accomplishment
   was followed by a loss to Nikita Vitiugov, who is now in clear second.
   Alekseev defeated Konstantin Sakaev, and enters the final round with a
   half-point lead.
   Round 10 Results:
   Vitiugov - Timofeev 1-0
   Svidler - Jakovenko 1/2-1/2 (Had either player won, he'd have been
   within half a point of the lead.)
   Tomashevsky - Riazantsev 1-0
   Lastin - Morozevich 1/2-1/2
   Sakaev - Alekseev 0-1
   Maslak - Inarkiev 1/2-1/2
   Standings after Round 10:
   1. Alekseev 7
   2. Vitiugov 6.5
   3-5. Jakovenko, Svidler, Timofeev 6
   6-7. Morozevich, Tomashevsky 5.5
   8. Lastin 4.5
   9-10. Sakaev, Inarkiev 3.5
   11-12. Maslak, Riazantsev 3
