The U.S. Women's Championship Controversy
http://chessmind.powerblogs.com/posts/1212543975.shtml

It was a while ago now, but to refresh your memory, Anna Zatonskih won
the U.S. Women's Championship, defeating Irina Krush in the Armageddon
game of their playoff. She was worse on the board and had less time
going into the final time scramble, but managed to eke out the
victory, defeating Krush on time while she had one second remaining.
That's the old news; the new news now follows. Krush has argued in an
open letter that not all was cricket in Zatonskih's play. According to
Krush, her opponent managed to overcome her time deficit by beginning
her moves before Krush finished her own, a practice which is entirely
against the rules (though entirely common in blitz play). At one point
Krush proposed that the dispute be remedied by naming both players
co-champions, a suggestion which has yet to be accepted. Will it?
   (Should it?) We'll see.
Meanwhile, you can read her letter, and Susan Polgar's opinion of it,
   [1]here (permalink [2]here).
