   As [1]already noted, Nigel Short, who enjoyed a last-round bye,
   clinched clear first with a round to go in the [2]King's Tournament in
   Bazna, Romania. Still, all the other places were up for grabs, and
   these were settled after four draws and a Murariu win over Timman.
   Here are the final standings; the numbers in parentheses are the
   number of games each player drew.
   1. Short 7/10 (6 draws)
   2-3. Portisch (7), Andersson (7) 5.5
   4-8. Suba (8), Beliavsky (8), Khalifman (10!!), Mecking (6), Murariu
   (6)
   9-11. A. Sokolov (8), Vaganian (6), Timman(!) (4!)
