Once again, a damn fool liberal....
http://www.antimedia.us/posts/1203799112.shtml
....has bought [1]another bogus story about the military.
You know, I've heard from an Army captain who was the head of a
rifle platoon â supposed to have 39 men in a rifle platoon. Ended
up being sent to Afghanistan with 24 because 15 of those soldiers
had been sent to Iraq.
OBAMA: And as a consequence, they didn't have enough ammunition,
they didn't have enough humvees. They were actually capturing
Taliban weapons, because it was easier to get Taliban weapons than
it was for them to get properly equipped by our current commander
in chief.
Captain's don't command rifle platoons. They command companies.
Lieutenants command [2]rifle platoons and they are comprised of three
rifle squads of nine personnel each and one headquarters unit of three
people. That's 30, not 39. A company, which is what a Captain would
lead, is comprised of three to five rifle platoons. An equal number of
Lieutenants report to him, and he is the commander of the company, not
it's "head".
All of these facts are easily obtainable on Wikipedia (as you can
see.)
That's just the beginnings of the problems with this supposed story.
The media, of course, insists that the story is "accurate" even if it
isn't all true (my, my, my, where have we heard that before?), and
when milbloggers jumped all over the story's many problems, the
media's reaction was equally predictable.
"I might suggest those on the blogosphere upset about this story
would be better suited directing their ire at those responsible for
this problem, which is certainly not new. That is, if they actually
care about the men and women bravely serving our country at home
and abroad."
So, listen up, you inconsequential little gnats. The facts aren't
what's important here. It's the "truth" of the story that matters.
To what "truths" do they refer?
Liberals hold these truths about the military to be self-evident:
1) Only a fool or a poor person with no other options joins the
military.
2) The military disproportionately recruits from minorities and poor
communities.
3) The enlisted ranks of the military are made up of people who
couldn't get in to college and had no other choices in life.
4) The leadership of this country consistently shortchanges the
military, cynically denying them the protections they need to stay
alive and using them as cannon fodder for their ill-begotten
misadventures.
5) The horrors of war turn men into wanton, uncontrolled killers who
are a danger to everyone around them and to themselves.
(None of these "truths" are true, and all have been debunked numerous
times, but me as well as others.)
Thus the men and women who serve are victims, unable to extricate
themselves from the awful situations that they find themselves trapped
in, battered by the horrors of slaughtering innocent people and
constantly taken advantage of by the cynical white men who control
them like slaves. They don't have enough ammunition, enough armor,
enough vehicles. They are constantly yanked from one place to another
without regard to unit cohesion or the necessity of the conflict.
Liberals, of course, will change all that. After all, they support the
troops who are bravely serving both here at home and abroad, even if
they shouldn't be.
