Swimming against the tide....

....is something I do a lot of. I don't watch movies that include
actors in the cast who, in my opinion, are un-American. I don't care
how popular the movie was or how wonderful the story line. I refuse to
shop at stores that engage in what I consider to be un-American
   behavior.
I'm not a prude (I was a sailor for goodness sake!), but I refuse to
watch a lot of the filth that passes for entertainment these days. I
find much of the "comedy" these days to be offensive in both language
and content and not the least bit funny.
This primary season has been fascinating to me for one thing more than
any other -- the completely illogical way that most people think.
Liberals scream about their loss of liberty under "the Bush regime"
while they encourage their representatives to steal more of their
money, enslaving them further to a state that has one purpose -- to
consolidate power and reduce your freedoms further.
Meanwhile, "moderates" deride the "radical right wing" conservatives
for criticizing McCain claiming it is conservatives who need to make
up with McCain, not the other way around. Really? Then why do you
vote? When did "settling for the lesser of two evils" become the gold
standard for voting? When did "holding your nose" while voting begin
   to make sense to you?
What's the purpose of voting? To elect someone? Or to express your
desires with regard to how government should be run? (Yes, this is a
serious question!) When was the last time you cast a vote for
principle? Do you seriously believe that politicians will understand
your desires if you continue to "settle" for the lesser of two evils?
Perhaps the reason America is in such horrible shape now is because so
few of us care enough to cast principled votes rather than votes of
   convenience and compromise.
This country is headed down the road of tyranny as surely as the sun
rises in the morning. You only have to read the writings of our
founding fathers to understand how far we've strayed and how much
liberty we have willingly conceded to the state. Government has
intruded into every area of our lives, telling us what color we can
paint our houses, what material we can use for our roofs, where we can
and cannot smoke (and no, I'm not a smoker, but I recognize when
freedoms are being stolen), and on and on and on.
When and where will it stop? Nowhere unless we rise up and stop it.
Think about that when you enter the voting booth. Every time you
settle for less, politicians get the message that you're fine with the
status quo. Is that really the message you want them to get?
