....because he is a despicable excuse for a human being. He constantly
promotes a liberal agenda while insisting smugly and self-righteously
that his is completely unbiased, and he attacks others without
justification or attestation. But [1]this attack on Gen. Petreaus
cannot go unanswered. You can read the article if you don't mind
wallowing in mud, but the precis is that a Colonel who was a professor
at West Point and specialized in military ethics committed suicide in
Baghdad. He left a note in which he intimated that Petreaus and
another general looked the other way while corruption and human rights
   violations went on unchecked.
First of all, Mitchell should remove the beam from his own eye before
criticizing the motes in others'. (Many in the media could benefit
from that admonition.) Secondly, anyone who commits suicide clearly
has unresolved mental issues as well as an immature attitude toward
conflict resolution. Suicide is never a sensible or logical way to
resolve conflict. (This is not meant to demean the Colonel or lessen
the impact of his loss to his family.) Thirdly, even if the Colonel
perceived all his claims to be true, an investigation found otherwise.
Unfortunately, the Colonel chose suicide over seeing the investigation
   through to its conclusion.
Finally, neither Petreaus nor this Colonel are perfect. No one is. To
elevate the Colonel's claims, made in a suicide note (and only implied
at that), to the level of "received truth" and automatically assume
that everything he said must be completely true is to show a naivete
that only a smug, self-righteous know-it-all like Mitchell could write
for public consumption and expect the masses to swallow without
   complaint.
The world would be a better place if Mitchell would shut up and go
away. That he "represents" the media is the ultimate irony for he
perfectly reflects the attitudes of many journalists today.
