Apparently the Iraqi government is getting serious....

....about [1]security measures in Baghdad. A general who was abducted
was rescued less than 24 hours later and his four abductors were
jailed. In Sadr City, bulldozers are removing the makeshift roadblocks
that were being used to impede security forces and enable escape.
Politicians who have been collaborating with the "insurgents" are
   being rounded up and arrested.

Politically, Maliki put an end to speculations about his real
intentions of a cabinet reshuffle and announced that the reshuffle
is going to happen within two weeks from now.
In his press conference this morning, Maliki also announced that
the Supreme Judicial Council will be issuing warrants against a
number of politicians and members of parliament who have
connections to militant groups that are involved in attacks on
     civilians and security forces.

And in other news, Al Zarqawi's successor [2]has been captured.

A suspected leader of the group Islamic State in Iraq, which has
ties to the al-Qaeda terrorist network, was detained in northern
Iraq on Sunday, Iraqi security forces reported.
Muharib Mohammed Abdullah, aka Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, was arrested
in a joint raid by Iraqi and US soldiers in the city of Duluiya.
"This is a great success for the Iraqi security forces, comparable
to the killing of Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi," the Salaheddin provincial
administration in the town of Tikrit said in a statement.
Abdullah is a former legal expert from the city of Balad, north of
     Baghdad.

Odd that you have to go all the way to Bangkok to learn this. (Hat tip
