The Supreme Court has been busy lately....

....issuing [1]opinions (pdf) on a number of matters.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation sued to stop President Bush's
faith-based initiatives programs. The court [2]reversed (pdf) lower
court rulings which had granted the plaintiffs standing.
Wisconsin Right to Life sued the Federal Elections Commission to
reverse the 60 day ban on campaign advertising. The Court ruled that
the 60 day ban was an [3]unconstitutional restriction (pdf) of free
speech. (Note to the Court -- the whole damn thing is
unconstitutional.)
In [4]Morse v. Frederick (pdf) the Court ruled that a student who held
up a banner reading "Bong Hits 4 Jesus" did not have his First
Amendment rights violated when the principal confiscated the banner
and punished the student, because the banner promoted illegal drug use
in violation of school policy.
In [5]Davenport v. Washington Ed. Assn. (pdf) the Court ruled that it
is not a violation of the First Amendment for a state to require its
public-sector unions to receive positive affirmation from a non-member
before spending their agency fees for election-related purposes.
Interesting cases. It's especially encouraging to see the 60 day ban
overturned. Perhaps there's still hope.
