How long must we suffer....

....before Americans wake up?
* In 1979 they invaded and captured the US embassy, sovereign US
terroritory, taking [1]66 Americans hostage, an act of war that
[2]they still celebrate today.
We responded with a failed rescue mission and ended the "crisis"
after 444 days by [3]signing the Algiers Accords, agreeing not to
interfere in Iranian internal affairs and to lift the trade
sanctions against Iran and unfreeze their assets in the US.
* In 1983 they [4]bombed the US embassy in Beirut, killing 63,
another act of war on sovereign US territory.
We responded by issuing [5]the Inman Report and reviewing embassy
security procedures.
* In October 1983, they bombed [6]the Marine barracks in Lebanon,
killing 241 servicemen.
We responded by worrying about whether a retaliatory strike might
anger the Arab nations and firing a few artillery barrages.
* In September 1984, they bombed the US embassy again, killing 22
more, including two American servicemen, another act of war on
sovereign US territory.
We responded by creating a new division in the Department of State,
the Diplomatic Security Service.
* In 1996 they bombed [7]the Khobar Towers, killing 20 including 19
servicemen.
We responded by indicting several conspirators, none of whom have
ever been captured.
* In 2003 they began working surreptitiously to disrupt American
operations in Iraq.
We responded by refusing to admit that we knew Iran was involved in
Iraq.
* Now they are murdering our soldiers with powerful IEDs and
[8]assassins and the Democrats want us to respond by not meddling
in Iran's affairs.
Our previous responses to Iranian aggression have worked so well, it's
self-evident that we should stay the course, right?
