Hell, FOX News did it all freakin' day and thru the night....
I only watch FOX because I'm conservative and get a more Fair and Balanced
reporting of the news there, but they sure get stuck in the "Rut" or rot as
you say, of wanting every little tid-bit of info "first" - and again, as you
say, with total Disregard of the feelings of those involved.

....that I hope the next massacre happens in their damn buildings.
These clueless jerks are [1]blaming the administration at Virginia
Tech for the size of today's massacre.

In the wake of this morning's tragedy at Virginia Tech, some
students are questioning some of the school's actions why the
college's administration did not cancel classes after the first
shooting and why it took over two hours to inform students via
     email about the shootings.
The unidentified gunman shot and killed two students at 7:15 a.m.
at the West Ambler Johnston Hall dormitory and took as long as two
hours before killing at least 30 other students sometime after 9
a.m. at Norris Hall, an academic building across campus.
Because classes don't start until 8 a.m., some students felt that
cancelling classes would have helped avert further tragedy by
alerting students of the need to leave campus or to find a secure
     place.

Now you think about that for a minute. The media wants to know why, in
45 minutes from the time of the incident, the police and the
administration couldn't figure out that a man had killed his
girlfriend and the man she was in bed with and that he was still on
campus and that he was going to go on a rampage one hour and 45
   minutes later!
The question is asinine. In 45 minutes the police could barely respond
and determine that murders had occurred and that the shooter was on
the loose, much less notify the administration of the incident.
Furthermore, they would have had to determine that the killer was
intending to kill more people as well, all while they were still
trying to figure out what happened.
What irks me even more is that the media stuck their microphones in
the faces of terrified students and asked them if they wondered why
the administration took so long to respond.
These jerks have no concern whatsoever for people's feelings, no
perspective of right and wrong, no concern whatsoever at making the
administration look bad for no reason while the raw emotions of the
incident are still jangling at the service.
A pox on them. A pox on their houses. May they all rot in hell for
their inhuman behavior and their crass exploitation of tragedy.
Read what Curt at Flopping Aces [2]has to say. Curt is a former Marine
and a police officer with 16 years experience.
For this incident, ABC goes in the Hall of Shame.
