Plamegate Redux....
http://www.antimedia.us/posts/1159248262.shtml
....Victoria Toensing ties [1]a neat bow around the Plamegate mess
with a terse and pointed analysis of the main players; Joseph Wilson,
Richard Armitage and Patrick Fitzgerald. All three have much to answer
for but so does the media, which clearly had access to the truth of
the matter all along and chose to run with the false story that the
administration was out to get Plame in retaliation for Wilson's
"truth-telling".
The short version is; Wilson lied about Niger and knew when he made
his false claims about his wife that she had not been covert for more
than five years. He knew also that there had been no violation of any
law, yet he led the charge for an investigation.
Armitage knew, before the investigation even began, that he was the
source of the Novak "leak" and chose to sit on that knowledge for more
than three years while he watched the administration squirm under the
constant pressure of the investigation during a war! (Armitage should
be toast -- fired on the spot by Secretary Rice. If she doesn't have
the stones for it, then Bush should do it.)
Fitzgerald, who had a code of ethics to uphold, knew before the first
day of his investigation had begun, who leaked the information and
that no law had been broken. Yet he chose to soldier on, spending
millions of taxpayer dollars investigating a "possible crime" for
which he already knew all the answers. (Fitzgerald should be made to
explain himself before the bar and give reason why his license to
practice should not be summarily revoked.)
Such is the bizarre world of Washington that not one thing will happen
to any of these men.
What needs to happen, now that another election season is upon us, is
that the Democrats should be made to pay for their perfidy at the
polls. Even now, when the truth is fully known, many Democrats
continue to assert that the administration sought to retaliate against
Wilson when they know full well it's a lie.
It remains to be seen if the American people care enough to vote
according to who has been telling the truth and who has been lying.
