To our men and women in our armed forces. We think of you around the clock,
as we pray for your safety. Two hundred and thirty years ago, July 4, 1776,
our army pledged their lives to win our independence. We are all grateful to
you as you are doing the same, today, in defense of our country. Give 'em
Hell! Phil Gevas Honolulu, HI.

....Bruce Kesler, emailed me and asked to let people know about [1]a
project to thank our troops, an idea hatched by Mark Tapscott, editor
of the [2]Washington Examiner.
I would like to publish a bunch of messages from folks here at home
to our troops overseas. Could you post on Democracy Project a note
about taking advantage of the opportunity by sending a July 4th
message of encouragement that will be published in The Examiner and
on Examiner.com. Folks can simply [3]email to me. Also, if you know
any of the milbloggers who might do the same, I would very much
appreciate it.
On July 4^th, spend a moment thanking our troops for their service.
Many Americans take advantage of the wonderful freedom and
opportunities that we have to benefit themselves and their families. A
few choose to dedicate their lives to serve us and our country.
Teachers, police officers, firemen and military often make great
sacrifices for us. As we enjoy the hot dogs and beer and fireworks
that make this day special, some will be serving in far away lands,
separated from their families, doing what men and women have done
since the beginning -- ensuring that America remains the land of the
brave and the home of the free.
To all of them, I say, Thank you for your service. May you have fair
winds and following seas and may the Lord be with you while you are
away.
