....that the two soldiers who were captured were brutally tortured and
murdered. This should come as no surprise to anyone. The Sunni
Baathists and Al Qaeda terrorists have a long history of brutality
   stretching back over decades.
This sort of despicable behavior has been going on in Iraq since the
beginning of the war. These are the first Americans to be treated this
way, but many, many, many others have suffered a similar fate,
   especially Iraqis.
Patriot, posting over at CJ's says it's time to [1]take the gloves
off. That time passed a long time ago. Our political leadership has
lost the will to fight war the way it needs to be fought. We're trying
to fight "kinder, gentler" wars and "win hearts and minds", even if it
means we lose more troops doing it that way.
What our troops need to understand is that you cannot surrender to
these people. If you're in an unwinnable situation, either figure out
a way to get out or fight to the death. Surrender is not an option.
Were I in that situation, my last act would be to pull the pin on a
grenade and wait for the bastards to get close. If I'm going down, I'm
taking as many of them with me as I can.
Yes, it's sad that our men were treated that way, and it's an outrage
too. But let's face it. Almost every enemy we have faced has been
brutal and ignored the laws of armed conflict. We know that going in.
So fight like your life depends on it, and when it comes your time to
die, take the bastards with you.
