Great photos--great trip. Coincidentally, I flew onto and off the USS Carl
Vinson, after overnighting aboard, in the early 90's. Memorable! I was awed
by the 19 yr-olds who manned and basically ran the Carrier (a small city
afloat), most of whom had not even seen the ocean a year earlier, and the
very impressive officers aboard. The "institutionalized" method of training
in the military, in such a short period of time, is unmatched anywhere in
civilian life, as I always tell anyone within earshot.

RANCAPS trip to the christening of the USS Hawaii in Groton, Conn. on 
the east coast of USA. Will add the pics from the ceremony when I get 
them. Only the official photographer could take pics while we were at 
Electric Boat. Its a top secret area, not that it looked any different 
from any other dockyard I have visited. The Hawaii delegation was over 
30-strong. A great group and everyone got along, even the many 
politicians! The Gen. Dynamics-Electric Boat folks were awesome and 
made it a very special occasion for everybody. We brought over 1,000 
leis and gave them out to all who attended. It was quite a sight. 
Senator Inoye was the key note and gave an memorable speech. He was 
awarded the CMH in WW2.

The trip was 10-hours flight over in a KC135, about 24-hrs in 
Conneticut, and 10-hours back. I was totally crapped out but it was a 
wonderful and memorable trip.
