Today is a great day....

....The macabre murderer, Abu Musab al Zarqawi, [1]was killed
yesterday along with seven associates in a bombing raid of the safe
house he was meeting in. According to [2]Omar, two of the dead were
women who were intelligence operatives for Zarqawi. Another was
   Zarqawi's spiritual advisor, Abu Abdul-Rahman al-Iraqi, who
unwittingly [3]led our troops directly to the safe house and
precipitated the strike that killed them both. (Apparently Allah and
he weren't on talking terms.) Andi (of Andi's World) [4]reports that
Zarqawi was still alive when the troops found him. Let's hope his last
images on earth were US soldiers watching him die.
The celebration of Zarqawi's death wasn't universal. Hammorabi
[5]writes, "Zarqawi without doubts went into the bottom of the Hell
with blood of many innocent children, women and men in his dirty
hands." One of those innocents was Nicholas Berg, whose father
couldn't resist the opportunity to criticize Bush, calling him [6]a
   worse terrorist than Zarqawi.
Berg wasn't the only one less than thrilled at the news. Some of the
usual suspects in Congress took the opportunity to [7]criticize Bush
and the war effort as well. Some on the left [8]looked for the dark
cloud behind the silver lining. (Hat tip to [9]Greyhawk.) Others
wondered if it is [10]"ethical" to celebrate Zarqawi's death! That's
   easy. YES!
The brother of Kenneth Bigley, another of Zarqawi's beheading victims,
said he hoped Zarqawi would [11]"rot in hell". That sentiment seems
[12]a lot more common, prompting [13]congratulations and encouragement
to our troops from some and [14]sardonic humor about the short
   lifespans of terrorists from others.
Michael Yon's [15]reaction is to pray that the media won't replace
Zarqawi with another media-created monster. There's not much hope of
that, I'm afraid. The media has been manipulated by the terrorists for
too long now to change horses in mid-stream.
