   ....[1]about gift-giving at Christmas time. He ponders the conundrum
   of giving to people who already have so much and decides that the
   solution is to give to a charity on their behalf rather than giving
   them some trinket they won't use.
   I sort of did the reverse this year. I hate being asked what I want
   for Christmas, because I really don't need anything. This year I
   decided to answer by suggesting that the giver make a donation to the
   Paralyzed Veterans of America in my name. I've supported the PAVA for
   years, and I have a special place in my heart for those in the
   military whose sacrifice has been a life-altering experience such as
   paralysis.
