Politicians already tend to ignore mass-mailed missives, claiming they
aren't reflective of their constituents' true feelings. When they
discovered how much email they would get, many of them stopped
accepting email and went to web-forms, which require manual input. (At
least they did until this version of Blue Frog was released.) If the
web-forms generate massive amounts of input, what's to stop them from
simply taking the forms off the web and going back to snail-mail for
input? (It's not like our politicians are all that eager for citizen
input to begin with.)
Furthermore, I can see how this could be easily "hi-jacked" by special
interests trying to make it appear that the entire country is opposed
to something when it's truly only a small minority. Indeed the first
one to leap on this technology is a "privacy" advocate who thinks we
should be tracking terrorists and whom other privacy advocates have
actively opposed due to the extreme views that he holds.
I suspect this won't get far before the politicians either figure out
how to ignore it or pass a law making it illegal.
