It's beginning to look like....

....the war between Israel and Lebanon will be the story of [1]the
atrocities that weren't, as the Lebanese Prime Minister has now
revised the death toll in another "tragedy" down from 40 dead to just
one dead.
Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora said Monday that one person
was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the southern village of
Houla, not 40 as he had earlier reported.
"The massacre in Houla, it turned out that there was one person
killed," Reuters quoted Siniora as saying. "They thought that the
whole building smashed on the heads of about 40 people ... thank
God they have been saved."
Siniora had earlier told Arab foreign ministers in Beirut that the
attack "was a horrific massacre ... in which more than 40 martyrs
were victims of deliberate bombing."
Saniora said he had based the initial tally on unspecified
information that he had received, The Associated Press reported. He
offered no other explanation for the error.
"Unspecified information"? That would be Hezbollah's media relations
people, most likely.
I find it interesting that journalists complain that it's too
dangerous to go to Lebanon and that Hezbollah "hassles" them and
"threatens" them when they do, and so therefore they are forced to use
"stringers" (local "journalists") who can get the story. Yet it never
even occurs to them that if the stringers can move about freely,
taking pictures and submitting stories, that the "news" they're
reporting just might be what Hezbollah wants reported.
You'd think our vaunted media would be intelligent enough to figure
that out, wouldn't you? Perhaps it's because they don't want to?
