   ....and asked me to let my readers know about the upcoming EOD
   Memorial Ball. The [1]EDO Memorial website has the details (click on
   the EOD Ball link at the top.) The Ball is an annual event meant to
   honor the fallen EOD warriors who have given their lives while saving
   many others. It takes a special kind of person to go toward danger,
   and it takes a very special person to do it repeatedly and routinely
   as a job.
   EOD specialists are a unique, cross-branch service discipline, a
   highly specialized field that attracts men of high character and
   discipline. Men and women who face the kind of danger that even combat
   troops (wisely) avoid.

     Some of your duties will include, but are not limited to locating
     identifying, rendering safe, and disposing of foreign and domestic
     conventional, chemical, or nuclear ordnance and improved explosive
     devices (IED); supporting VIP missions for the US Secret Service,
     State Department, andother Federal agencies.

   The Ball and associated events occur on May 5^th and 6^th, beginning
   with an auction on the 5^th and closing out with the Ball at 1800
   hours on the 6^th, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Dress is formal, and
   the public is allowed to attend.
   Please consider contributing to the EOD Memorial Scholarship Fund that
   benefits the children of EOD specialists killed in the line of duty,
   as well as the children of active duty, reserve and retired EOD. With
   all the causes that demand our time and money, I can think of none
   more worthy than honoring those who have given their lives in the
   cause of freedom.
